The Mercury Cougar Eliminator paint.

The standard exterior paint for the Eliminator was the competition and is the same as Mustangs Grabber paint. Same paint different name.

For the 1970 Eliminator was 6 standard colors:
Competition Blue,
Competition Yellow,
Competition Orange,
Competition Gold
Competition Green.
and Pastel Blue.
There is also some Eliminators ordered with special paint.

Why a 351 Windsor engine in my 1970 Cougar?

It was meant that all Cougars should have a 351 Cleveland engine in 1970.

The Cleveland plant didnt had the capacity to serve with Cleveland engines,

 there fore some Cougars got a 351 Windsor engine instead.

Also there was a strike in the plant 1970 that caused delivery problems.

Its not possible to read out from the VIN which engine your Cougar had from factory.

The H meant 2V, it can be either a 351 Windsor or a 351 Cleveland.

The M meant 351- 4V.

Electric headlight door conversion, Mercury Cougar XR7 -70

A pretty easy conversion that costs about $90 to do, not more.
I bought a used Mazda Miata headlight door actuator from a scrapyard for about $70.
A adjustable rod i stainless steel for about $11.
A relay for $5. Wiring, bolts, fuse and a small piece of sheet metal i had in my garage.
